2 types of anchors
A ship's anchor works to keep it in place, attaching itself to the seabed.
We often anchor ourselves to our past decisions or experiences, even if they are bad, and let them influence our future. Feeling tied to past decisions, we try to justify them - swimming in the wrong direction, using our energy, ultimately being weighed down by them.
Climbers also use anchors to prevent them from falling beyond a particular height, a sort of checkpoint.
Good decisions are important. They are a springboard for the future growth, a position to pivot or learn from, especially if the route chosen ends in a fall.
Every now and then we might need to look back at our past decisions and see what is weighing us down - it could be time to pull up those anchors and detach ourselves.
On the other hand, good decisions can be trusted to break our fall, and we can look to the future with confidence.
