Comics and creativity
In the last few years I have found a new appreciation for comics and graphic novels. I loved them as a young kid, but hardly read any in my late teens and through my 20s. My wife Mia and brother Marley have since got me back on to them.
Comics can build stories, characters, and worlds more quickly and in greater depth, with far fewer words and pages than regular books. It wasn't until recently that I appreciated why.
Much of what happens in comics occurs between the panels. The reader is left to fill in the gaps with their imagination. Comics allow our minds to be creative by priming them with key words, bits of conversation, and visuals, leaving us to fill in the rest.
