Taking notes
At the end of school many people had this ritual of tossing or even burning the pages of notes that they had written and collected over the years.
We are taught that once the exams are over, the notes that we take are no longer useful. They were just for the exam.
It's understandable to think that taking notes is a waste of time. We often have this prominent end of school experience to remind us of this.
But in life, we never know when information will be useful to us. Unlike school, there is rarely a set date for when we will be tested, but we will be tested. It pays to write things down that can be useful in the future.
Done right, writing things down can help us connect ideas, go deeper and allow ideas to grow over time, and build in our own unique perspectives from our experiences.
Our notes, managed properly, become more valuable over time. Learning systems that help us to embed wisdom into our thinking systems can help us make better decisions, and be one of the most valuable things we do in life.
