Things change
We feel the changing of the seasons more than changes in our climate over decades.
We feel the death of a loved one more than a supernova explosion millions of light years away, marking the end of a star's life.
Our perception of our proximity to change-events in space and time governs our feelings about them.
Bringing to mind regularly the reality of impermanence can soften our emotional response to change. We then have a better foundation on which to take action when things change.
