Progress, without AI
Many years ago I was a landscape and building labourer.
It is still one of the most satisfying jobs I have had, despite often involving gruelling physical labour under the hot Australian sun.
The physical exercise made me feel good. When we downed tools at the end of every day my mind was no longer on work, I could be present.
It was most satisfying because I could visually see progress. Each day I had helped build something that was closer to a house or blooming garden. At the end of the job I felt a sense of pride that my hands had contributed to creating something - one shovel, barrow, or hammer at a time.
Writing, and building my Personal Index and my website by hand (using HTML and CSS) is giving me that same feeling. I am learning each day, and I can visually see what I am creating.
None of the words, paragraphs, or pages on my website are 'built' using AI. My website is always going to be unfinished, like me. The goal is not to have it 'done' but to learn through the 'doing' of writing. For me, thats progress.
