Definition: "Flourishing" - meaning success, fulfilment, self-realisation, and material comfort.
Insight: Eudaimonia is a response to the question "what is the best way to live?".
Reference: Aristotle believed the Greek view that the highest human good is eudaimonia.
Reference: Aristotle believed that the fulfilment of human potential is within rational activity that conforms to virtue, or moral excellence.
Insight: The idea that we should be moderate in all things is not what Aristotle meant by striking the middle path. He says that the mean should be defined by reason.
Reference: Aristotle: "Virtue, then, is a state of character concerned with choice, lying in the mean which is defined by reference to reason. It is a mean between two vices, one of excess and one of deficiency."

Example: Cow grazing on a commons will eventually lead farmers to add more cattle until the commons is ruined from overgrazing.
Insight: When the Earth's resources - air, water, fish, are treated as commons, there is no proper stewardship. and ruin will follow.
