Biography: Epictetus spent years as a slave in Rome. When he was freed he set up his own school. One of his students Arrian wrote notes that produced books Discourses and Enchiridion.

Insight: Figuring out what is possible and what is not possible is difficult.

Principle: Do not waste time on attempting the impossible.
