Cognitive Dissonance

  1. When you set goals your brain starts to identify the gaps between where you are currently and those goals and resolve the "cognitive dissonance" by trying to fill in the gaps.

Delegation

Insights:

  1. 3 ways to get things done: do it, delegate it, defer it.
  2. Delegation is not always down. You may need to delegate to your boss or others in your team.

Principles:

  1. Delegate if it takes longer than 2 minutes, and you are not the right person to do the task.
  2. Track what you have delegated as "waiting on".

Locus of Control

Insights:

  1. Having a functional workspace (locus of control) is important - it is from where we can control our outcomes.
